The Data Communications Company (DCC) is proud to announce the successful development and deployment of a new tool on our network. Built by a DCC partner, GTC, the new tool allows GTC to connect to and communicate with smart meters, to remotely diagnose issues and lower the need for costly and time-consuming visits to premises.
GTC, a utility provider for homes and businesses, is the first independent distribution network operator making use of the DCC network and is fully accredited under the Smart Energy Code.
GTC's new tool will cut costs, save time, and reduce GTC’s carbon footprint.
The core mission for DCC is to connect Britain so we can all lead smarter, greener lives, so we’ve built and now maintain Britain’s largest and most secure communications network, to connect every smart meter across the country. And with that network now built and highly performing, we’re working with companies like GTC to leverage the power of the network and the data it transmits, to use Data for Good to find transformative ideas and efficiencies.
Seth Townsley, Electricity Innovation & Transformation Manager at GTC, said:
“Deploying a DCC Adapter onto our network is the natural progression for GTC, meaning we deliver better network management services and allow us to enhance the service we provide for our customers.”
Paul Clark, Partnerships Director, said: “I am pleased to welcome GTC as a DCC User. GTC is the first independent network operator to become a DCC User. We are welcoming an increasingly diverse range of organisations to the DCC network, reflecting the value our network offers as the GB energy transition progresses.”
Through partnering with the DCC, businesses, suppliers, and public sector organisations can develop powerful new tools that can play a part in tackling major societal challenges like fuel poverty, or help the UK reach its ambitious Net Zero goals.
