Recovering our costs

How we're funded

We recover our costs from energy suppliers, network operators and other authorised users via Charges. The approach we use to calculate those Charges is set out in the Smart Energy Code (SEC).

How we set our charges

We set our charges in-line with the approach described in our Charging Methodology statement. We publish the Charging Methodology on our website, and review it at least once in each regulatory year in accordance with Section K of the SEC. Publication of all charging methodologies and corresponding reviews can be found below.

Charging Statements

We regularly publish Charging Statements which set out the charges that currently apply, and our forecast of what Charges might be in the future to help parties estimate what they may pay in future. Charges are designed to be cost reflective and non-discriminatory.

Indicative charging statements

As part of our SEC obligation we publish within the first five working days of April, July, October and January in each year, an indicative Charging Statement for the first regulatory year due to start thereafter. Those statements set out the Indicative charges for that regulatory year based on the information available to us at the month of publication.

Indicative budget

We publish within the first five working days of April, July, October and January in each year, an Indicative Budget for the second and third regulatory years due to start thereafter.  These budgets set out the indicative figures for each such regulatory year based on the information available to us at the month of publication.
